There have been lots of changes at Matandani over the last couple of weeks! There are two especially big piece of news for the school. First, our very own head teacher Mr. Limbe has retired after many, many years of being a teacher in Malawi. We are sad to see him go, but we wish him a very healthy and happy retirement.
I wish to personally thank him for all his hard work at Matandani school!
Mary Saenda is the acting head teacher, with Kenneth Kassam as her very able deputy.

The other big news is that the government has posted FIVE new teachers to the school. Over the last year we were unfortunate to lose a few teachers, due to marriage or moving to different jobs. So, before receiving the new teachers, we were down to just 12. With the new recruits we we will be back up to 17!
So a very big WELCOME to Jowana, Gloria, Patrick, Petrol and Colinzs! We look forward to meeting you all when we go back to Matandani this summer.

The new classrooms that we built are very much in use now! As you can see from the pics below, the children love learning in the new rooms that are bright and colourful. With the new teachers the need for more classrooms is evident; some classes still have to be taught outside under a tree!
