The new classroom block is nearly complete! The roof has been put on, the inside walls have been plastered, the outside walls have been finished (“pointed”) and the floors are starting to be laid. It wont be long before the children move in!

Deputy-head teacher Mr. Kassam has been a fantastic project manager. He has led efforts to catch up the time lost due to February’s massive floods. Mr. K has managed to get the various different work teams (plasterers, pointers, etc.) to work on their bits all at the same time. This is very unusual for Malawi! Thank you, Mr. Kassam!

The local community have done their part in contributing to the new building. The village chiefs have arranged for thousands of bricks to be made. They have also supplied all of the sand needed to complete the work. By doing this the community has shown that they really want to help us improve their school and help their children learn.
